Of the 24 players called up recently, 16 are based in Scotland -- of those 16, 13 are under contract with the Old Firm.
Naturally, the InFirm are partly to blame -- but what about the players themselves?
What can be done apart from the players making the courageous decision to forge their success somewhere other than the Weege?

As Ianfaeclerrie put it shows a lack of ambition on their part. The EPL is streets ahead of the SPL. When the world is your oyster there is simply no logic to Broonies decision. Its been a long tradition in Scotland that if you play for any team other than the in-firm then you MIGHT get a call up to the Scotland squad. But hey if the player(s) sign for them its nailed on you get a call up. As for why its like that THE WEEGIE EFFING MEDIA. Oh btw am no saying Engerland is a good team just the league ;D

I hadn't considered the media's connection to national team call-ups. In other words, if a manager doesn't select the media's darlings he'll be in for a rough ride. I hear ya, D. Vast difference there is between England the team and EPL.

The world is a lot smaller now than when it was a surprise that 'unknown' players were selected for Scotland. They can be followed all over the world easily and I'm sure players like Scott Brown don't consider their Scotland selection in their decision of where to go.
I think the decision to go to Glasgow from Edinburgh is just the easy decision for people whose view of the world is myopic and who are being advised by numpties.
Interesting hearing the interview with Billy McNeill when he talks about really good players coming to Celtic and being dwarfed by the size of the club. What complete lot of pish.

You simply have to look at the management set up - Old Firm manager, coaches etc. I seem to remember Tommy Burns explaining this by talking about a "winning mentality" - the OF players are used to winning every week therefore..... Foot went through the TV with those comments.
